Scarborough Ontario Health Team (OHT) COVID-19 Community Support

27 April 2020 --  During the unpredictable time of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Scarborough Ontario Health Team (OHT) has recognized that there will be vulnerable persons left without sufficient support in the Scarborough community, as access to programs are limited due to closures across various agencies.

In order to better serve our Scarborough community, the four Scarborough community support services agencies (Scarborough Centre for Healthy Communities, TransCare®, SPLC and CareFirst) have joined efforts to have a central intake telephone line. Services for referral may include:

1. Respite Care/Personal Support
2. Transportation to medical appointments
3. Grocery Shopping/Medication Delivery
4. Case Management/Care Coordination
5. Meals on Wheels

How You Can Protect Yourself From COVID-19

1. Wash your hands frequently (minimum 20 seconds) using soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
2. Maintain social distancing from anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
3. Practice respiratory hygiene by covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Dispose of the tissue immediately and wash your hands.
4. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth to prevent the virus from entering your body.
5. Stay home if you are feeling unwell and conduct this self-assessment.
6. Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
